Many PS5 players often wonder whether “Red Dead Redemption 2” will come with a PS5 or Xbox Series version. Well, maybe we can answer that question for you today!
Even though Rockstar has stopped further development for “Red Dead Redemption 2”, the game still seems to have potential. Since last year, there has been a persistent rumor that Rockstar is working on a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S implementation of the successful western adventure “Red Dead Redemption 2”.
After the news came last summer that development of the implementation had been temporarily paused in favor of “GTA 6”, internal Microsoft documents were uncovered today that confirm the existence of the current-gen port of “Red Dead Redemption 2”.
In detail, we are dealing here with an email exchange between the three Xbox heads Phil Spencer, Sarah Bond and Matt Booty from May 2022, which concerns the postponement of “Starfield” and a way to close the resulting gap in the software – Xbox Game Pass replenishment turned.
A day one release for Xbox Game Pass?
However, there is additional information stemming from the email exchange among the three Xbox executives regarding their contemplation of securing the native Xbox Series X/S version of “Red Dead Redemption 2” as a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass. Even though there were internal uncertainties about whether Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games would agree to such an arrangement, it was estimated that offering “Red Dead Redemption 2” as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass would incur a monthly cost of five million US dollars for Microsoft.
In exchange, Microsoft anticipated that the inclusion of this Western adventure on Xbox Game Pass would generate an additional ten million hours of gameplay activity per month. Based on the information available at that time, Microsoft assumed that the current-generation port of “Red Dead Redemption 2” would be available in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2022/2023, falling between October and December 2022.
