It’s almost here—the release of Path of Exile 2! In just a few days, the action-packed RPG is dropping in Early Access. And right before launch, we’ve got some fresh details about the campaign’s playtime and the difficulty of this highly anticipated sequel.
Originally, Path of Exile 2 was supposed to be out by now, but the devs at Grinding Gear Games pushed back the release at the last minute. Early Access was initially set for November, but after the delay, the new launch date is now locked in for this week.
YouTuber Fextralife got an early chance to test the game in-depth, and thanks to their coverage, we’ve got the lowdown on what to expect.
Campaign Playtime for Path of Exile 2
When we’re talking about playtime here, we’re focusing strictly on the main campaign—the story itself. Side quests and optional missions? Those barely count in this calculation, if at all. That’s an important distinction!
If you stick to just blasting through the story, you’re looking at a max of 40 hours to complete it. However, your chosen difficulty setting is going to make a big difference. The higher the difficulty, the tougher it’s gonna get—and that means you’ll need to put in a lot more effort. Naturally, that’ll also stretch out your total playtime.
When Does Early Access Start?
Early Access for this Role-Playing Game kicks off this week—specifically, on Friday, December 6, 2024. The game will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
One key thing to note: While Path of Exile 2, like its predecessor, is a Free-to-Play title, Grinding Gear Games isn’t offering Early Access for free. You’ll need to pay to jump in early.
