Cogwheel Puzzles Solutions - Indiana Jones

Hey there, adventurer! If you’re diving into Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, you’ll quickly discover that the Khmer Cogwheels in Sukhothai are among the easiest regional collectibles to find. Compared to the Strange Inscriptions in the Vatican or the Stelae in Giza, this region is smaller and more compact, meaning less wandering around. Plus, it’s not unusual to find several cogwheels in the same spot.

But don’t get too comfortable just yet! To snag all the rewards, like Ancient Relics and the coveted Gear Head Achievement (Solved the Cogwheel puzzle in Sukhothai), you’ll need to tackle some brain-teasing puzzles. This guide will walk you through each step, making sure you don’t miss a single thing. Let’s get started!

Pro Tips Before You Begin

  1. Always grab the cogwheels! After solving a puzzle, don’t forget to pick up the cogwheels. You’ll need them for later puzzles, and if you leave one behind, you’ll have to backtrack.
  2. Precision matters. When placing the cogwheels, make sure everything is perfectly aligned. Even a small misplacement can throw off the entire mechanism.
  3. Look everywhere. Cogwheels can be hidden on the floor or within gear systems. Double-check every corner before you move on.

Hidden Pyramid: First Cogwheel Puzzles

Hidden Pyramid: First Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 3

The first two cogwheel puzzles are part of the main storyline and take place in the same room. While it’s technically possible to skip ahead and collect other cogwheels first, it’s smarter to start at the Hidden Pyramid. Grab the three cogwheels here and solve these puzzles before moving on.

Tip: From this point forward, every puzzle room will have at least one cogwheel on the ground or in the gear train. Make sure to pick them up before leaving.

Waterfall Ruins: Cogwheel Puzzle

Waterfall Ruins Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 4

The Waterfall Ruins are located southwest of Wat Sa Si. To reach the ruins, since it’s not part of the main story, there are several paths:

  • Option 1: Take a boat along the river that runs down the western edge of the map.
  • Option 2: Cross the bridges between Wat Sa Si and Wat Mahathat. This route passes a small enemy outpost where you can steal a Medicine Bottle.

Solution:

  1. Place a small cogwheel to the left of the main gear at the bottom.
  2. Add another small cogwheel above it.
  3. Put a large cogwheel to the left, followed by another large cogwheel directly above.
  4. Complete the chain to the second main gear by stacking small cogwheels to the left of the large ones.

Pull the lever. If everything’s correct, the gate will open, letting you grab the Ancient Relic inside.

Village: Cogwheel Puzzle

Village: Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 5

Start at Tongdang’s shop and head southeast by boat. Look for a stone wall with a hole at the bottom. If you can no longer see the shop behind you, you’ve gone too far. Equip your Breathing Device, dive under the wall, and remove the wooden beam blocking your path. Before resurfacing, check the riverbed for sunken coins. Once on land, you’ll find the puzzle chamber straight ahead.

Solution:

  1. Start with a large cogwheel above the bottom-right gear.
  2. Add a small cogwheel to the left, then another large cogwheel. This connects to the bottom-center gear with a white marking.
  3. Pull the lever to test if everything turns properly.
  4. Use your remaining small cogwheels to create a horizontal line to the moss-covered gear in the top right.

Once all the gears are turning, the gate will open, and you can collect the relic.

Wat Mahathat: Cogwheel Puzzle

Wat Mahathat: Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 5

Dock northeast of Wat Mahathat and head south through the camp. The puzzle chamber is northeast of the southernmost restricted area. Wearing the Royal Army Uniform will help you move through this area unnoticed.

Solution:

  1. Place a small cogwheel under the main gear at the top.
  2. To the left, connect another small cogwheel, then a large one, forming a chain to the topmost green gear.
  3. Connect the bottom green gear using another small cogwheel, followed by a large one to bridge the gap.
  4. Work your way upward with small and large cogwheels, then complete the chain by placing the last cogwheel between the right-side main gear and the rest of the mechanism.

Pull the lever to complete the puzzle.

Wat Si Sawai: Cogwheel Puzzle

Wat Si Sawai: Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 6

The puzzle chamber is hidden behind Wat Si Sawai, located in the southwest corner of the map. If you haven’t rescued Aran yet, you might want to handle both tasks in one trip.

Solution:

  1. Start by creating a row of three small cogwheels above the bottom-left gear.
  2. Add a large cogwheel above the rightmost small cog, then connect another small cogwheel and a large one to its right.
  3. Finally, build a chain of small cogwheels leading upward to the green gear that powers the main cog in the top right.

Hidden Platform: Cogwheel Puzzle

Hidden Platform: Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 7

Southeast of Voss’ camp, look for a stone wall with a hole. Dive through it and follow the path uphill to the puzzle chamber.

Warning: The gear in the center is overgrown with roots and doesn’t work. Avoid connecting the two small green gears to its left; otherwise, the entire mechanism will fail.

Solution:

  1. Place a small cogwheel on the right side of the row of green gears at the bottom.
  2. Add a large cogwheel in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Create a chain upward using a small cogwheel, a large cogwheel, and another small cogwheel.
  4. Work left with a small cogwheel, two large ones, and another small cog.
  5. Finish by placing two small cogwheels in a horizontal row under the leftmost gear, connecting it to the main cog on the left.

Riverbank: Cogwheel Puzzle

Required Cogwheels: 10

The final puzzle is on a riverbank north of Wat Chana Songkhram, east of the lagoon entrance leading to the Hidden Pyramid. You’ll see a small shore to dock your boat.

Solution:

  1. The bottom-left main gear has a green cog attached. Add two more small cogs in a vertical line above it.
  2. To the left, place a large cogwheel and continue upward with small cogs to reach the white glyph gear, avoiding the broken cog.
  3. On the top-right side, place a large cogwheel under the second white glyph gear. Build a chain to the left using a small, a large, and another small cog.
  4. Finish by connecting small cogwheels down and to the right until you reach the bottom-right main gear.

Double-check everything before pulling the lever to ensure the mechanism works.
