Epic Games just dropped the first big Fortnite update of 2025, and it’s bringing the heat! Update 4.52, also known as Patch v33.20, doesn’t just introduce the fan-favorite virtual singer Hatsune Miku to the game—it’s also packed with some exciting surprises. Before players can dive into all the new features, the servers went down for maintenance on January 14.
The update versions depend on your platform: PS4 players get it as Update 4.52, while PS5 users are downloading Version 1.000.163. The file size? Around 10 GB on PS5. For other platforms, expect similar download sizes.
On top of the official announcements, dataminers have dug up some hidden gems in this update, teasing even more surprises to come. With this patch, Fortnite is kicking off 2025 with fresh energy and tons of exciting content.
We’re still guessing, though, because alongside Hatsune Miku, the teaser hinted at Godzilla x Kong. What’s that all about? We’ll probably find out soon enough!

The full patch notes for Fortnite Update 4.52 might not be here yet, but the big news is out: Hatsune Miku is lighting up Fortnite with her futuristic vibes! One of the world’s most iconic virtual pop stars, Miku (初音ミク), is headlining the Festival Season 7, and there’s plenty more to get excited about. Let’s dive into what’s new!
Hatsune Miku Joins Fortnite – Get Ready to Shine!
Calling all Miku fans—it’s time to grab your glowsticks! Hatsune Miku is bringing her electric energy and global superstar status to Fortnite, kicking off Festival Season 7 in style. Known for her role in over 100,000 songs and countless stage appearances, Miku is now taking her place as the Icon of the Festival.
What’s in store?
Players can unlock:
- The exclusive Hatsune Miku Outfit
- Virtual instruments and emotes
- More surprises through the new Music Pass!
The Music Pass combines free and premium rewards into a single progression track. Earn XP in any Fortnite experience to unlock free items, and grab the premium rewards by purchasing the Music Pass for just 1,400 V-Bucks.
Local Multiplayer Hits the Main Stage
Festival Season 7 isn’t just about music—it’s also about bringing people together. For the first time, local multiplayer is available on PlayStation and Xbox!
Here’s how it works:
- Up to four players can join on the same console.
- Party up in the Lobby and jump into the Festival Main Stage together.
- Each player must have an active Epic Games account and a platform account—guest accounts won’t work.
This is the perfect way to share the Fortnite fun with friends and family, side by side on the couch.
The New Unified Music Pass Progression
Fortnite’s new progression system makes it easier than ever to unlock rewards. Whether you’re playing Battle Royale, Creative, or any other Fortnite experience, your XP counts toward the new Music Pass.
Here’s what’s new:
- Both free and premium rewards are unlocked along a single track.
- The progression system applies to all Fortnite Passes, not just the Music Pass.
- Purchase the Music Pass anytime to unlock premium rewards retroactively.
We’re staying on top of it and will update this post as soon as Epic drops the full list of fixes and optimizations!
